Belts

Stretch Nylon Belts

Elastic webbing with a quick-release or ratchet buckle. No holes to land between, nothing digging in when you sit down. Three waist bands from 28 to 42 inches, widths 1 3/8 and 1.5 inches.

No holes to land between

The belt moves, so you do not have to

Elastic runs through the weave, so the belt gives when you sit down and comes back when you stand up. A punched leather belt cannot do that: it has five positions and your waist spends the day somewhere between two of them.

How ratchet sizing works

The only real choice here

1 3/8 inch or 1.5 inch

Wider spreads load and holds a waistband flat. Narrower goes through belt loops that the wide one will not. Measure the loops on the trousers you actually own before you pick, because the buckles are the same either way.

What is in this section

1 3/8" Stretch Nylon Belt

An elastic belt in the narrower of the two GEIT widths, which makes it the one that fits ordinary trouser loops without a fight. The buckle threads through the loops without coming off the strap, so putting the belt on a fresh pair of jeans takes a few seconds.

The narrow one exists because an inch and a half does not go through every belt loop.

1.5" Stretch Nylon Belt

The 1.5 inch version of the stretch belt. Wider strap, wider buckle, and enough surface to carry the weight of a phone holster or a multitool without folding over on itself. Check your belt loops before buying: not every pair of jeans takes an inch and a half.

Width is the whole decision. Everything else on this belt is the same as the narrow one.

1.5" Minimalist Ratchet Belt

A 1.5 inch stretch belt with a ratchet buckle. Instead of stretching between two punched holes you click it a notch at a time, and the notches are small enough that you can set it exactly where you want it. Four colours, including a coyote strap with a matching buckle.

A punched belt gives you five positions. This one gives you dozens, and one of them is the right one.

How to pick a size

Buy from here if

  • You want a belt on in five seconds and off just as fast.
  • You sit down for a living and the buckle digs in by four in the afternoon.
  • Golf, hiking or fishing: the mesh weave dries and does not hold a sweat line.

Look at the other belts if

  • You want to set the fit in quarter-inch steps rather than by stretch.
  • Something is going to hang off the belt: a holster, a pouch, a multitool.
