Before you buy

Questions

Sizing and hardware first, then the ordering questions, because those have the shortest answers.

Sizing and hardware

Do you sell these belts and leashes yourself?

No. There is no cart and no checkout on this site. Every product page opens the listing at our retail partner, and the sale happens entirely on their side.

What size belt do I order if I am between two ranges?

The larger one. GEIT sizes belts by waist range, so a 38 inch waist sits at the top of the 35 to 38 band and at the bottom of the 39 to 42. On the ratchet models you trim the strap to length at home, and there is no way to add the offcut back on.

How do I cut a ratchet belt to length?

Pull the strap out of the buckle, put the belt on and mark where the buckle should sit, then cut the strap square with sharp scissors and clip the buckle back on. Cut long first and take a little more off if you need to.

Which leash length should I buy?

Four feet keeps a dog close where there is traffic. Six feet gives room to sniff on a path. Five is the middle and it is what most people order first.

Does leash width matter more than length?

For a strong dog, yes. Three quarters of an inch fills your hand and spreads a lunge; half an inch is lighter and fine for a dog that walks beside you.

What is a frog clip and why does GEIT use one?

It is a spring-loaded aluminium clip that snaps shut when you press it onto a collar ring, so you attach a lead one-handed. GEIT rates the alloy body to hold under a 700 lb pull, and the ring behind it swivels so the rope stops twisting.

Are the leashes safe for a dog left tied up?

No lead on this site is sold as a tie-out. They are walking leads, and nothing here is designed to hold a dog nobody is holding.

Can I wash the nylon webbing?

Rinse it in cold water and hang it to dry. Skip the tumble dryer: heat plus metal hardware is how clips and stitching get wrecked.

Ordering, payment and delivery

Are the prices on this site the prices I pay?

They are what the retailer listed when we last checked, and they change without telling us. Read the number on the listing before you pay; that one is the real one.

Who handles delivery and tracking?

Our retail partner. They take the payment, they pack the box and they own the tracking number. We do not see any of it.

Something arrived damaged. Who do I talk to?

The partner you bought from, through the order in your account with them. If you tell us, all we can do is check the listing and fix the catalogue.

Why are belts and dog leashes on the same site?

Because one brand makes both, and both are built around the same idea: the buckle or clip is the part worth reading about. We are not going to pretend it is a natural pairing.
